Rite 13

Rite 13 is for those pre-adolescents who have not yet been confirmed and who are usually, although not always, in 6th, 7th or 8th grades. In this two-year program, youngsters meet on a regular basis with the Rector and with various lay people. They participate in a variety of activities designed to build group spirit, encourage positive attitudes and enable moral and ethical decisions to be made based on Christian thinking.

They are taught a simple history of the Episcopal Church and become familiar with the Bible as basic text for life and the Book of Common Prayer as a tool for worship. Rite 13 concludes with the youngsters readiness for Confirmation, which is held upon the Bishop’s next visit following graduation from Rite 13.
